Most freestanding cookers use natural gas as their fuel source. However, you can buy freestanding cooker models that operate with electricity or LP gas. Dual Fuel Cookers

A dual fuel cooker is basically a combination of an electric oven and a gas cooktop, or hob. One advantage of the gas cooktop/hob is that you can use any type of saucepan for your cooking. Dual fuel cookers need individual separate fuel supplies for the hob and oven.

Electric Cookers

Electric cookers use electricity as the preferred fuel type, both for the oven and for the cooktop/hob. As you'd expect with any electric cooktop, this model limits your cooking to flat-based saucepans.

Gas Cookers

Gas cookers are fuelled by natural gas for both the cooktop/hob and the oven. The oven burns gas to generate the heat inside the cavity, while the cooktop/hob uses direct flame for the main cooking process.

LPG Cookers

The only difference between an LPG and a gas cooker is that an LPG cooker uses LP (Liquefied Petroleum) gas as its preferred fuel instead of the natural gas used in normal gas cookers. Otherwise all other basic operations are the same.
